The science behind the light
How Luminous Technology Supports Preventive Care
We already know that early detection is the most important factor in the fight against breast cancer. But what exactly happens technically when the red light of the Luminous Pro Series (often called Pink Luminous Breast or PLB in studies) is used? A scientific study has examined the effectiveness of this technology.
How does the LED technology work?
The device uses a special, harmless spectrum of red LED light (640–800 nanometers). This light shines through the breast tissue (transillumination). The principle is simple but effective: since healthy tissue and irregularities absorb light differently, anomalies appear as dark areas or shadows.
Overview of the study results
In a double-blind study, the technology was compared with mammography, the current "gold standard." The results are impressive:
High accuracy: The device showed a sensitivity (detection rate of irregularities) of 89.6% and a specificity of 96.4%.
Strong with dense tissue: A particularly important point is the examination of dense breast tissue. Here, the LED technology was able to provide positive findings in 78.2% of the participants, while mammography in this specific comparison was at 72.9%.
Pain-free application: 100% of the study participants reported that the examination was completely pain-free and that they felt comfortable during the procedure.
More than just a gadget.
The study highlights that the technology is especially valuable because it:
Is non-invasive and portable: It can be used comfortably and without radiation exposure at home.
Is easy to use: Even women with breast implants can easily use the device for additional checks.
Closes the gap: Many women avoid preventive examinations due to fear of pain or cultural reasons. A painless device for home use removes these barriers.
An important note for supplementation
It is important to understand that the Luminous Pro Series is not meant to replace mammography. Instead, it serves as a powerful supplementary tool to make the most of the time between clinical examinations and to raise awareness of one’s own body.
By using technology that helps us notice changes earlier, we make a crucial contribution to our own health.
